Instead of forcing the customer to have shorter names in their column definitions or changing the column widths in the load tables that may run into problems later if for some reason the load table gets upgraded, simply put a substring on the column to only bring over as much data as the column is defined. This is presuming that the customer doesn’t need whatever extra data is being truncated in that column.
If we keep having to do this for certain columns, definitely let the BI R&D team know and we’ll increase the column sizes in the load tables for future releases. We’ve done this already with some of the address fields.
