  • Sizing Methodology for QAD BI
Note: This document comments on sizing for the QAD BI server-side components only.
Two different workload types place different demands on BI components. Also, there are two deployment options for QAD BI. Because of this, size each type of workload separately. The methodology used for sizing BI divides each metric into the following areas:
Sizing for DWD/Scheduler Workload (Batch Jobs). This refers to the workload placed on the server as a result of the DWD/Scheduler automated jobs. Size this workload, which is of a batch-type, separately.
Sizing for Concurrent User Workload (Interactive Portal Users). This is the workload placed on the DW server as a result of the concurrent interactive users using the BI Portal. This workload involves concurrent active end-users effectively running queries against the BI data warehouse through their remote BI Portal-client user interface. This workload can place significant read demand against the data warehouse. Size this workload separately.
Sizing for BI Portal Webapp (Server Side). Because the BI Portal webapp can be placed on a separate tier from the rest of BI in the two-tier deployment model, record sizing requirements for this component separately for each relevant sizing metric. If sizing for a single-tier, combine the sizing for the BI Portal webapp with the other sizing metrics.
