  • Defining the AppServer
    Use AppServer Service Maintenance (36.19.1) to define the information needed for the system to connect to a Progress Application Server.
    You can specify a set of standard connection parameters used to connect to this server. Optionally, you can also define server-specific parameters required by the AppServer.
    Note: The example shown in AppServer Service Maintenance (36.19.1) includes the data you would enter to define an AppServer used to improve MRP performance. See here.

    AppServer Service Maintenance (36.19.1)
    Service Name
    Enter a name to identify this application server.
    Optionally enter a description of the application server.
    Application Service
    Enter the name of the Application Server defined in the file during configuration of the AppServer.
    IP Address or Host Name
    Enter the IP address or host name used as the -H parameter when connecting to this application server. This is the IP address or host name of the machine on which the application server is running. If the AppServer is running on the same machine as QAD Enterprise Applications, enter localhost.
    Port Number
    Enter the port number used when connecting to this application server.
    If you are running a Progress name server, enter the name server port number. The default value is 5162.
    Otherwise, enter the port number on which the AppServer is running.
    Optionally enter any other parameters required when connecting to this application server.
    E-mail User ID and E-mail Level
    These fields are not implemented and have no effect on processing.
