QAD Warehousing Version: QAD Warehousing for QAD 2010.1 Enterprise Edition

New Features Overview
New features and enhancements for this release include the following:
Warehouse staff can now use the RF device to receive messages sent to warehouse staff from QAD Warehousing users; see Messages.
Warehouse supervisors or managers can now use alerts to notify warehouse staff of potential issues before they become critical or to send automated information to customers about their order or shipment; see “Alerts” on page 3.
The RF Receipt functionality (1.8) was simplified and expanded so that it now handles a variety of receipt types and replaces the RF PO Receipt (1.8) function; see “New RF Receipt Functionality” on page 4.
A new RF Shipment (1.9) option was added to handle a variety of shipping; see “New RF Shipping Functionality” on page 4.
New inquiries were added to the RF Menu; see “New Inquiries” on page 5.
The following control programs were added to Warehouse Control Table Report (4.23.24) so that you can display QAD Warehousing setup:

Note: External Device Setup (4.23.22) provides control options.
For Batch Picking Control (4.15.24):
A new Weight UM field was added. The Weight UM field lets you specify the unit of measure in which each transaction’s weight is calculated on the main batch picking selection screen.
A new Blank Reference field was added. The Blank Reference field lets you indicate whether the system retains the pallet reference number or blanks the reference number when RF users confirm a transaction when the Container/Reference field in Batch Picking Control is set to Container.
The Height field was removed.
Two fields, Picking Type and Expire Date (Days), were moved from the Transaction Confirmation Defaults frame to the Picking frame in both Warehouse Maintenance (4.1.1) and Warehouse Control (4.1.24).
A new Default Alternate Unit of Measure by Address field was added to Address Whse Detail Maint (4.13.13) that lets you enter a default alternate unit of measure by address as defined in Alternate Unit of Measure Maint. The system uses this field with the RF Receipts option to set the default alternate UM when warehouse staff scan a new pallet during a receipt.
The Allow Lot Ref field was added to the Picking frame of Warehousing Maintenance (4.1.1). Setting this field to Yes lets you use QAD Warehousing and RF functionality to specify a different pallet or reference other than the one the system selected to fill an order.
You can now add prefixes to the Order and Address fields in Barcode Prefix Maintenance (4.23.17). This program lets you define a one- to four-digit prefix for certain fields.
Messages
Warehouse staff can use the RF device to receive messages sent to warehouse staff from QAD Warehousing users. Information in the messages and notifications can help warehouse staff:
Avoid or resolve warehouse issues.
Increase warehouse productivity.
Eliminate timely communication that occurs during decision making by speeding reaction time.
Using either a message or instruction to a given user or notification, warn of a potential issue.
Staff send messages from system terminals, using the Messaging Menu (4.22) in QAD Warehousing. The target message recipients can be valid QAD EE users on a single RF device or a group of RF devices. RF devices receive the messages and return a receipt notification of the message; however, RF users cannot send messages to QAD Warehousing. Once the system sends a message, the RF device displays a blinking or beeping asterisk in the right upper corner. This indicates that there is one message to read. The RF user can then use the F11 function key to read the message. Once the message is read, RF users mark it as read. QAD Warehousing users on a system terminal can then verify that the message was read.
Target messages sent to RF devices are defined by the following:
Unique QAD user as defined in User Maintenance (36.3.1.)
User group as defined in Warehouse Group Maintenance (4.11.3.5)
The system retains the messages for later review.
New programs within the Messaging Menu let you create, report on, delete, or archive the messages. They include:

Alerts
Alerts and messages are two different types of notifications. You create and send messages through QAD Warehousing programs in the Messaging Menu; however, you set up the sending of e-mails, which act as the alerts, outside of QAD software. Examples of alert notifications include the following:
Wave, automatic, or kanban replenishment failure
Shipment late, double, or short; receipt/sent; or verification
Order change
Low inventory levels
Algorithm failure
Currently, three customizable alerts come with QAD Warehousing:
Shipment notification (when item is sent)
Task creation (when pick or short is created)
Sample Inspection Fail (when an item is rejected from inspection area)
Users receive the alerts in their mailbox or at a QAD EE e-mail inbox.The RF device cannot receive alerts.
Users activate alerts by subscribing to them. Once a subscription exists, the system sends automated information to them. Recipients can be customers, suppliers, or warehouse staff.
New RF Receipt Functionality
The RF PO Receipt (1.8) option was replaced with an expanded, easier-to-use receipt option. Using the RF device, warehouse staff can now perform a variety of receipts through the RF Receipt (1.8) option, including:
Distribution order receipts
Sales order returns
Purchase order receipts
ASN receipts
Unplanned receipts
RMA receipts
The RF Receipt option lets warehouse staff:
Receive one or multiple pallets, with or without pallet IDs.
Perform most types of receipts in a warehouse using the RF device.
Choose the receiving location.
Generate the relevant put-away tasks after the receipt.
Handle multi-item and multi-lot pallets.
New RF Shipping Functionality
Using just one RF shipment menu option (1.9), warehouse staff can now ship sales orders, distribution orders, and return material authorizations; or return a purchase order as well as perform an unplanned issue. These functions lets staff ship when they do not have a pre-shipper.
Note: QAD Warehousing still lets warehouse staff ship with a pre-shipper using the QAD Warehousing Ship Truck functions.
Functionality included in the RF shipment program includes:
Ship one pallet to one customer in two different orders, the same pallet to different customers, or one pallet for two different orders.
Ship the same pallet to different customers in the same process or transaction.
Ship partial pallets or multi-item pallets.
Ship from the storage location group with Allow Issue set to Yes in Storage Location Maintenance.
You can change the RF screen layout or set up different flavors of the RF shipment screen to accommodate changes among your various warehouses.
New Inquiries
A new RF Inquiries menu (5) was added to the RF device software. RF users can view data in any of the following new inquiries, provided in the new menu:

5.1
Item Inv Inq
Provides inventory data for a single, scanned item in location(s), including the item, location, quantity, reference, expected in/out quantities, and item description. If more data displays than can fit in the RF screen, users can use the arrow keys to scroll through the list. Two screens are presented, with the second screen displaying a list of locations in the warehousing having inventory (quantity) for this item.
5.2
Loc Inv Inq
Provides inventory data for one scanned location. User can select an item present in this location and see details of each Lot/Ref, and expected in/out movements.
5.3
Ref Inv Inq
Provides inventory of a single, scanned reference. System presents a list of items (option 1) or locations (option 2) if the reference is multi-item or multi-location. User has ability to scroll through the items (option 1) or through the locations (option 2) and view details of the reference, including expected in/out movements. If there is more than one reference for the item, the user can scroll through different locations using arrow keys.

Lot Inv Inq
Provides inventory data of a single scanned lot ID. System presents a list of items (option 1) or locations (option 2) if this lot is multi-item or multi-location. User has ability to scroll through the items (option 1) or through the locations (option 2) and see the details of this Lot, including expected in/out movements. If there is more than one lot for the item, users can scroll through different locations using arrow keys.
5.5
Daily Prod
Lets the user see his or her own daily productivity, including completed tasks, picks done, time by task, last location worked, current location working, and productivity time total.
5.6
Preshipper Inq
For a selected Pre-Shipper (scanned by user), the system provides the remaining opened tasks and information for each pending task.
5.7
Item Master Inq
Provides basic date from Item Master Maintenance on the item scanned.
5.8
Loc Master Inq
Provides data about the location when RF users scan a location code, including the location ID, SLG, WLG, storage type, percentage full, and whether the location is functional or not.
5.9
Sto Loc Gp Inq
Provides data about the location when RF users scan an SLG, including the settings for these SLG-related fields: Allow Issues, Allow Receipts, Splittable, Pickable, Allow Incoming Receipt, Allow Outgoing Receipts, and Picking Level.
5.10
Address Inq
Provide address data when RF users scan an address bar code, including the address, type, name, city, state, post, country and priority.
Fixes
The following improvements were made to QAD Warehousing for this release:
Inspection History Maintenance (4.19.17) now displays the correct values for the Qty to Inspect and Return Qty fields when the system passes or rejects a sample inspection. Previously, the system displayed incorrect values in these fields.
Transactions Detail Inquiry (3.21.1) no longer displays a transaction history record with a 0 (zero) quantity when you:
Complete a shipment using Sales Order Shipments (7.9.15).
Enter a quantity of 0 (zero) at the line level.
Set the Multi Entry field to Yes to enter quantities in multiple lots.
Pre-Shipper/Shipper Workbench (7.9.2) no longer lets you delete the entire pre-shipper when you select an open transaction line, then invoke the Delete Pre-Shipper/Shipper Line function (Option 1 on the RF device) while working in the RF Batch Pick (3.1) function and lines are active and open. Previously, the system let you delete the entire pre-shipper.
Purchase Order Receipts (5.13.1) no longer displays a Progress error during receipt of multiple pallets when you set the Multi Entry field to Yes.
Replenishment Request (4.16.13) now replenishes the inventory in the base unit of measurement (UM) when:
You do not set the logistic UM as the base UM in Item-Warehouse Maintenance (4.4.11) for the item.
You set the sizing type of the base UM as blank in Alternate Unit of Measure Maint (4.5.1).
The location to be replenished is a dedicated mixed location.
Work Order Release/Print (16.6) now overpicks the work order in multiples of the value you enter in the Pick Mult UM field and you set the Over Pick field to Yes in Storage Location Group Maint.(80.3.1). Previously, the system picked the work order quantity.
Pallet Constitution/Transfer (4.17.20) now prints the identification label only when you set the Print ID field to Yes in Pallet Constitution/Transfer (4.17.20). Previously, the system printed the identification label even though you set Print ID to No.
Movement Conf. By Transaction (4.8.1) no longer confirms transactions or displays an error while confirming transactions for a closed period. Previously, the system created unposted GL transactions in Unposted Transaction Register (25.13.14).
Movement Conf. By Transaction (4.8.1) no longer creates negative inventory for a location having inventory status when you:
Set the Overissue field to No.
Confirm picking for a work order task after entering a cycle recount.
Work Order Receipt (16.11) now receives a work order when:
The quantity is less than one.
The Lot/Serial field is blank.
You set the Multi Entry field to Yes for serial-controlled items.
Previously, the system displayed an error that indicated a lot/serial number was required, and the quantity must be -1 or 1.
Unplanned Issue Request (4.17.13) now displays the correct available quantity and displays the No More message in the Remark field when:
The quantity of inventory you enter to be picked is more than the quantity available.
The Overissue field is set to No and the Overpick field set to Yes in Whse Transaction Type (4.7.5) for the location for the picked items.

Fixes
The following improvements were made when processing with the RF device:
Purchase Order Receipts (5.13.1) now performs inspections and moves the inventory from receipt location to the inspection location when you specify algorithm number 6 for QA algorithms for purchase order receipts as the Algorithm Type in Algorithm Assignment Maintenance (4.6.9). Previously, the system did not move inventory to the inspection location when you specified the algorithm.
The batch picking function for sales orders in RF BP Pick SO /DO (3.1) option now updates the start date, start time, and start user ID when you press the End function after partially confirming a sales order quantity. Previously, the system left the values blank.
Work Order Receipt (16.11) now moves the inventory to the correct destination location and creates a short SO transaction history as per the number of sequences in Internal Routing Maintenance (4.2.5) when you set the Two Phase field to No for the shortage internal routing. Previously, the system moved the inventory to an incorrect location.
Picklist/Pre-Shipper-Automatic (7.9.1) now uses last-in-first-out (LIFO) picking for available inventory in locations with the LIFO picking type when you change inventory details to a reverse order in which the inventory was moved into the location. Previously, the system did not use LIFO picking in a reverse order.
The RF Location Audit (1.4) option now displays an error message, indicating the period is closed when you change a quantity when the GL calendar period is closed for inventory control. Previously, the system did not display the error message.
Put Away/Loc Find Simulation (4.6.13) now selects the proper location when you enter a lot/serial for which there is no existing inventory, but a location exists with inventory in another lot/serial for the item you are using in the simulation. The system does this when you specify the Merge with Same Lot/Serial-Preferred UM (PA96) algorithm in Algorithm Assignment Maintenance (4.6.9). Previously, when you specified the algorithm, the system selected the location with inventory with a different lot/serial for put-away.
Distribution Order Shipments (12.17.22) no longer creates the new reference with a negative quantity when you set the original reference to blank using the RF Container Move (3.4) option and you change the quantity for which you are picking during distribution order shipment. Previously, the system created the new reference with a negative quantity.
Sample Inspection Maintenance (4.22.1) now correctly changes the inventory status of the location to available when you change the location, lot, or reference of a non-inspected item when you confirm transactions during a receipt. You can also now confirm transactions. Previously, the system did not change inventory status to available after a successful inspection and did not let you confirm the transaction.
Purchase Order Returns (5.13.7) no longer resets the Multi-Entry field to No when you set the field to Yes manually after you enter data in the Reason field. Previously, the system reset Multi-Entry to Yes once you entered data in the Reason field.
The system no longer leaves modified values in records when you modify a transaction, then press Cancel or End using Movement Confirmation Workbench (4.8.7). Previously, the system left modified values, even though the values were not correct.
When calculating the location full percentage:
The system no longer hangs.
The LocM record is now accessible and no longer locked by another process.
RF functions now correctly clear the RF screen before you confirm a transaction. Previously, the system left data on the screen when you started a confirmation.
The system uses data from the correct warehouse when you set up more than one warehouse for the same site in Wave Planning Control (4.15.1.24) when using wave planning functions and when the system calculates the pre-shipper. Previously, the system used data from the first warehouse instead of taking the data from the appropriate warehouse.
The RF Transfer (1.3) option no longer transfers inventory to the destination location when you abort the transaction by pressing CTRL-C, and the system no longer locks records.
For the RF Container Move (3.4) option:
The system now correctly validates the location detail record (lad_det) for distribution orders when you use the RF Container Move (3.4) option.
Note: QAD Warehousing has tasks that add fields to the location detail (lad_det) record that indicate expected quantities in and out of warehouse locations.
The system displays an appropriate message when the pallet does not belong to a pre-shipper during RF Container Move (3.4) functions.
During RF Containerization (3.3) operations:
The system no longer locks records on the abs_mstr.
Pre-shippers now display correctly.
Incorrect message numbers no longer display during Transaction Priority Workbench (4.11.6) functions.
For RF Select Task (1.2) option:
The system now functions correctly when you access a task that was started by another user.
You can now access soft-assigned tasks, assigned to another user.
Tasks are no longer locked. Previously, they displayed but you could not select them.
Note: Tasks are no longer locked, yet displayed, when you use Select Task to select a pre-shipper using the RF or when you use BP Pick SO/DO or BP Pick-ALL for batch picking using the RF.
The logic for the PIC-FAS transaction was changed so that it functions similar to the PICK-SO transaction. Kit picking uses the PICK-FAS transaction, not the PICK-SO transaction. Wave reports and inquiries display data for the PICK-FAS transactions just as for the PICK-SO transactions.
Wave Selection (4.15.3) now correctly calculates and displays the net weight and number of lines for a multi-line sales order when you change the priority for one of the sales order lines from the default priority specified in Order Maintenance (4.1.3.1).
Replenishment Request (4.16.13) now correctly replenishes the inventory in the base unit of measurement when:
Logistic UM is not the base unit of measurement specified in Item-Warehouse Maintenance (4.4.11) for the item.
Sizing type of the base unit of measurement is set as blank in Alternate Unit of Measure Maint (4.5.1).
Location to be replenished is a dedicated mixed-item location with capacity defined for each item.
Previously, the system did not replenish the item when these conditions existed.
The system no longer deletes a requisition if it belongs to a pre-shipper or shipper when you manipulate pre-shippers or shippers. Previously, the system deleted requisitions for pre-shippers or shippers.
Item Number Change (1.4.13) now copies the data to the new item from the old Warehousing item when you assign the warehouse master list as a location to the older item, using Item Master Maintenance (1.4.1). Previously, the system displayed an error, indicating the item number did not exist, when you assigned the master list to the older item.
Triggers were merged for products that use common sales order and sales order line triggers to create the order.
