QAD provides leading-edge UI technology through the QAD .NET UI, a Rich Client, Microsoft .NET-based application consisting of the QAD .NET UI Shell, housing .NET Browses, a Menu System, and the QAD maintenance screens.
The .NET Browses provide seamless integration with Microsoft Office productivity applications, with the ability to export data to Excel and to use Excel as a means of entering data, such as financial forecasts, back into the application.
The Menu System provides powerful search capability to locate functions by name, by menu number or by program name. It provides a space where users may individually assemble and personalize frequently used actions, similar to bookmarks in a browser. This area may contain links to maintenance screens, corporate portals and URLs to frequently visited websites.
The QAD .NET UI Shell enables and hosts plugins. Plugins are applications that work within the Shell and extend or complement standard QAD functions. QAD encourages the development of third-party plugins through a community development site.
Beyond acting as the vehicle for users to access functions of QAD Enterprise Applications, the QAD .NET UI Shell hosts role-based Document Management and Learning Management functions that enable customers to view, maintain, and control their business process documentation, access Web-based multimedia learning components, and measure user competency.
QAD continues to support, both within and external to the QAD .NET UI Shell, character terminal data entry, which provides the most productive form of heads down data entry for frequently used application functions, and for integration with character based devices such as barcode readers.
