Manufacturing Execution

Manufacturing Execution fully manages mixed-mode manufacturing environments with a set of integrated modules that control all activities on the production floor, from identifying missing parts to reporting labor. This rich functionality supports Lean principle for rate based manufacturing, provides lot/serial traceability throughout. Quality Management

Quality Management improves visibility of quality issues and trends for a part or supplier, which allows the supplier to correct and improve production and shipping processes, leading to a reduction in quality issues. Improvements in supplier quality lead to more on-time deliveries, reductions in overall procurement costs, and increased overall production speed.

Embedded Features

Lot Serial Traceability

Lot/serial traceability capabilities provides complete lot and serial number tracking history from finished goods back to the supplier's lot. This capability adds extensive lot/serial tracing and reporting functions to Work-in-Process (WIP) and generates tracing information at the operation level whenever registered resources are consumed or produced.

  • Supports regulatory compliance in areas such as Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and Recycling of Hazardous Substances (RoHS)
  • Provides critical traceability required to comply with food security regulations and track potential contaminations and affect rapid notification or recall if required. Supports traceability needed to support Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP).
  • Provides the critical foundation for traceability mandated for cGMP compliance with ability to control and status lots (including attaching quarantine and not fit status to lots).
  • Provides the foundation to support product liability tracking for warranty recalls and investigation

WIP Lot Trace

Work In Process Lot Tracing supports tracking of component, WIP material, and finished goods based on parent items, product structures, and routings

  • Trace lot and serial numbers of WIP material throughout the manufacturing process, including WIP material processed by multiple subcontractors
  • Create flexible registrations to activate or deactivate WIP lot/serial tracking for all or specific BOMs, routing codes, parent items, component item, routings, and routing operations
  • Maintain complete WIP tracing history
  • Generate reports providing visibility of WIP lot/serial numbers and quantities.
  • Optionally generate and assign WIP lot/serial numbers automatically using Number Range Management (NRM) features
  • Control the lot sizes for all traced material
  • Control combining and splitting of lot and component material being traced
  • Control the WIP inventory quantity-on-hand balances for WIP material lot/serials being traced
  • Trace component material lots consumed at any operation in a routing to WIP or finished material lots
  • Trace WIP material lots from operation to operation
  • Renumber lot/serials from one operation to the next, or retain the same numbers throughout all operations
  • Determine the constituent WIP or component material lots of finished or WIP material lots

Supplier Performance

Supplier Performance records, tracks, evaluates, and rates performance of external and internal suppliers

  • Report card is generated on request and compares supplier events to the standards set
  • Performance report card with selectable level of detail e-mailed to supplier
  • Automatic, user-assisted, and manual event recording
  • Reason codes optionally tracked for each delivery and quality transaction
  • Multiple performance calculations and rating methods - discrete, proportional, parts per
  • Monitor supplier delivery performance based on receipt dates, quantities, and quality by comparing planned to actual
  • Establish measurement parameters that meet the business practices (line-item performance date, due date, or required date)
  • Monitors performance for multiple shipping functions including sales order, scheduled sales order, return material authorization, distribution order and material order shipments

Bar Codes and RFID

Bar code and RFID capabilities allow labels to be scanned, and for real-time transactions to be captured (i.e. Purchase Order Receipts, Work Order/Repetitive Schedule completions, etc.). Scanned bar code data is validated, eliminating manual data entry.

Supports all global labeling standards as well as integrating into data repositories such as GS1 (formerly EANnet and UCCnet)

As RFID initiatives mature, QAD is focused on supporting them and offers a solution based on current best practices

QAD Lean Manufacturing

QAD Lean Manufacturing provides a suite of tools that supports both lean manufacturing and flow scheduling practices for production, replenishment and inventory.

QAD Lean Manufacturing provides complete functionality to establish and execute Kanban processes — both inside the manufacturing plant and with suppliers — and to implement effective pull systems by giving users the ability to tightly manage inventory throughout the value stream.

QAD Lean Manufacturing provides multiple methods for calculating and setting supermarket quantities based on either manual data entry or system calculations that include a variety of flexible, user-defined parameters. Users can examine "what if" scenarios for supermarket sizing before updating the system, and analyze how well the supermarket is handling demand.

Using data that already exists in the enterprise system, QAD Lean Manufacturing can model the most complex value streams. A value-stream map can be used to create a model of suppliers, manufacturing processes and flows, supermarkets and customers. Kanban loops can be established and levels visibly communicated throughout the supply chain.

QAD Just-In-Time Sequencing

QAD Just-In-Time Sequencing (QAD JIT Sequencing) enables the scheduling and management of operations at plants that produce, package and/or ship configured parts and assemblies in sequence, ensuring the right items are delivered to the customer's production lines at the right time, in the right sequence.

QAD JIT Sequencing helps suppliers execute just-in-time (JIT) delivery of configured components while simultaneously coordinating supply and demand to minimize inventory levels and reduce the amount of extra costs caused by expediting activities in the supply chain. To do this, QAD JIT Sequencing integrates the mid-range/long-term planning and supply chain communication functions of its MRP processes with execution processes focused on manufacturing configured products that are delivered at the exact time they are needed.

QAD Production Scheduler

QAD Production Scheduler is a unified planning workbench that allows visibility of the entire production schedule and all contributing information thus allowing rapid manipulation of the production schedule in either discrete or repetitive (flow) environments

QAD Production Scheduler is built upon a unique workbench design and architecture. Users interact with a production schedule while receiving real-time feedback of capacity and item availability problem areas, highlighted in the workbench through visual alerts.

Real-time visibility to demand changes leads to increased scheduling efficiency. By enabling more accurate and iterative production scheduling, the QAD Production Scheduler helps reduce safety stock buffers. And, because more accurate order-to-promise dates can be given, the solution helps increase customer satisfaction.

QAD PRO/PLUS

QAD PRO/PLUS is a collection of functional modules that extend the capabilities of core QAD Manufacturing. These enhancements have been developed collaboratively with customers to provide them with the tools they need to continually optimize performance and have become critical for our automotive customers and are and applicable to many other verticals as well.

Planner - QAD Services provides finite capacity planning and scheduling tools for managing production through capacity-constrained resources. FACTIVITY - Manufacturing Execution 

FACTIVITY, a MDSS solution, is a real-time data collection system using a touch-screen interface. This advanced manufacturing execution system (MES) performs data collection directly from the shop floor to provide better job tracking, labor collection, time and attendance monitoring, job sequencing and overall greater visibility to jobs on the shop floor.

FACTIVITY helps companies respond quickly to manufacturing problems by providing real-time, accurate data directly from the shop floor. FACTIVITY assures accurate data capture and increases visibility and control on the shop floor.

FACTIVITY captures time and attendance, shows production schedules, monitors machine usage and controls the dispatching of released orders. Because it is a real-time system, FACTIVITY quickly alerts management to potential problems.

Freedom Technologies - Operations Management 

Freedom Technologies' Error Proof® and EP Bridge® provide a configurable software application for monitoring, managing and controlling production line operations, ensuring the correctness of manufacturing and shipping procedures.

Freedom Technologies' Error Proof is a verification system designed to eliminate errors in labeling, shipping and manufacturing processes. Error Proof has been designed to integrate directly with Freedom Technologies' EP Bridge.

The standard Error Proof application includes a rich set of label printing, production tracking and automated data capture functionality as well as a robust set of verification and validation functions that can be used to perform component part verifications, capture testing data, track part component genealogies (serial and lot traceability tied to each part), produce serialized part labels or direct part markings, interface with programmable logic controllers (PLC’s), offer count-to-container verification and Earn-a-Label™ for shipping.

Radley - Automated Data Collection 

Radley Corporation’s Q*Automated Data Collection (Q*ADC) is a complete mobile data collection system for QAD Enterprise Applications that automates manufacturing transactions and simplifies data entry processes.

Radley's Q*ADC for QAD Enterprise Applications expedites the movement of goods and increases inventory data accuracy. Materials personnel can transfer, issue and adjust QAD Enterprise Applications inventories using bar codes or radio frequency identification (RFID) tags, eliminating paperwork and manual data entry.

The Radley IntelliLabel option can produce serialized bar-code labels for items, containers and mixed pallets anywhere in the inventory tracking process. With IntelliLabel, users can then scan this single serial number so that the item, quantity, lot/serial, weight, quantity and other attributes are automatically associated with that transaction without additional scans. All information is validated for accuracy, and each transaction produces real-time updates to the QAD Enterprise Applications database.

Eagle - Automated Data Collection

Eagle Consulting and Development’s RF ExpressTM for QAD Enterprise Applications is an online, real-time, wireless solution designed to integrate critical automated data collection and bar coding functions with the QAD enterprise solution.

RF ExpressTM for QAD Enterprise Applications is a Web-enabled version of Eagle's standard product that performs Eagle's standard queries and transactions from a Web-enabled mobile phone, laptop or palm device.

RF ExpressTM for QAD Enterprise Applications provides a seamless, plug-and-play integration with QAD Enterprise Applications. Manufacturers derive the benefits of higher productivity, improved data accuracy, streamlined and accurate data entry, real-time tracking capabilities and more. Because of its flexible architecture, RF Express for QAD Enterprise Applications adapts easily to changes in business processes.
