He is the recipient of the National Medal of Technology, an inductee in the National Inventors Hall of Fame and has 21 honorary doctorate degrees.<\/span><\/p>\n

That\u2019s right, we\u2019re talking about <\/span>Ray Kurzweil<\/b>, and we\u2019re thrilled to announce that he\u2019s going to be speaking at Explore in May.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ray Kurzweil is one of the world\u2019s leading inventors. He was the principal inventor of the first flatbed image scanner, the first print-to-speech reading machine for the blind and the first music synthesizer capable of recreating the grand piano and other orchestral instruments (Kurzweil Keyboard), <\/span>for which he earned a Technical Grammy in 2015<\/span><\/a>. The award was in recognition of his \u201coutstanding achievements in the field of music technology.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

What I find very fascinating about Ray Kurzweil is how incredibly accurate so many of his predictions about the future have been. In his books written in the 1990s, <\/span>The Age of Intelligent Machines<\/span><\/i><\/a> and <\/span>The Age of Spiritual Machines<\/span><\/i><\/a>, he made a number of predictions about computers and what they will change for humanity. Things like wireless internet and wearable technology are standard in our lives today, but in the 1990s Ray saw these in our near future.
