On October 3, 2016, IATF 16949:2016 was released globally. IATF 16949:2016 will supersede and replace the current ISO\/TS 16949, which defines the requirements of a quality management system for organizations in the automotive industry. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to AIAG, over 66K+ global supplier sites (primarily Tier 1 and 2 suppliers) currently certified to the ISO\/TS 16949 quality standard will need to transition to IATF 16949 by September 2018. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Non-compliance could result in suspension of a supplier\u2019s quality certification and limit their access to new business opportunities<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here\u2019s the geographical distribution of the current 66K+ TS\/16949 suppliers:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5931\" src=\"https:\/\/www.qad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/06.20.2017_Blog_Inline-300x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"601\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.qad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/06.20.2017_Blog_Inline-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/www.qad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/06.20.2017_Blog_Inline-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/www.qad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/06.20.2017_Blog_Inline-768x770.png 768w, https:\/\/www.qad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/06.20.2017_Blog_Inline-696x698.png 696w, https:\/\/www.qad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/06.20.2017_Blog_Inline-419x420.png 419w, https:\/\/www.qad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/06.20.2017_Blog_Inline.png 898w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In order to complete this transition, organizations will have to obtain a copy of each of the following:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ISO 9001:2015<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">IATF 16949:2016<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Customer Specific Guidelines (additional quality requirements from the customer)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Automotive suppliers will have to purchase a copy of both ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949. To obtain these documents, organizations can go to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aiag.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">www.aiag.org<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.odette.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">www.odette.org<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AIAG does a great job of providing an overview for the transition from the older standard to the new, so <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/go.aiag.org\/iatf-16949-transition-strategy-whitepaper?utm_campaign=Automotive+QMS+Standard+-+ISO%2FTS+16949&amp;utm_source=hs_email&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_content=36369757&amp;_hsenc=p2ANqtz-8qApMhz7GA72BOrFKUXPIPYxP69gU8XEyPfXgtT0OCa00-QLwsuQaeum9V89esHoAscM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">check out their white paper<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for more to get up to speed on the current situation. The IATF provides <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.iatfglobaloversight.org\/content.aspx?page=OEMCustomer-SpecificRequirements\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">OEM customer specific requirements<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and through a managed internet community <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.customerspecifics.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tier 1 and other supplier quality manuals<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> may be found.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>QAD QMS ISO 9001\/IATF 16949 Solution Sheet is Available<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I recently worked with colleagues on our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cebos.com\">QMS<\/a> team to complete the mapping of each of the 160 clauses\/sub clauses in ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949 to QAD QMS functionality.
