They\u2019re a global corporation with world class engineering capabilities. SMR has state-of-the-art <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qad.com\/solutions\/manufacturing-erp\">manufacturing<\/a> facilities and a global customer base including all major carmakers in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. Overall, they have 22 production and logistics centers located in 15 countries around the globe.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<div class=\"wistia_responsive_padding\" style=\"padding: 56.25% 0 0 0; position: relative;\">\n<div class=\"wistia_responsive_wrapper\" style=\"height: 100%; left: 0; position: absolute; top: 0; width: 100%;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wistia_embed\" title=\"Wistia video player\" src=\"https:\/\/fast.wistia.net\/embed\/iframe\/xuxibdsadq?videoFoam=true\" name=\"wistia_embed\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>The Challenges of Implementing a Standardized ERP Throughout a Global Company<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cOur main IT challenge is integrating all of our plants around the world onto the same ERP system,\u201d notes Christophe Sib, Director, Global ERP and Quality Management Systems. \u201cIt\u2019s imperative for us to have a consistent ERP system across the entire company with the ability to accommodate multiple countries and a variety of languages. The solution also had to be capable of being extended for regional differences while still allowing us to function effectively as a single integrated company.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>SMR faced a new challenge when a major customer approached the company about a large new contract for their Langfang plant near Beijing. This plant had been managed without an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qad.com\/cloud-erp\">ERP system<\/a>, and a stipulation of the contract required that SMR implement an ERP system at the Langfang plant before the customer would commit.<\/p>\n<h2>Experience Brings a Quick Response and Implementation<\/h2>\n<p>Having such extensive experience with QAD ERP, SMR\u2019s IT team was able to implement the system very quickly. \u201cWe only had three months to get the Langfang ERP system installed, tested and live,\u201d notes Christophe. \u201cThere were no problems with the software but we did have to work through some local expectations.
