{"id":7592,"date":"2019-05-16T09:16:21","date_gmt":"2019-05-16T16:16:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog-prod.qad.com\/blog\/?p=7592"},"modified":"2021-08-03T12:06:38","modified_gmt":"2021-08-03T19:06:38","slug":"whats-new-with-mmogle-version-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.qad.com\/blog\/2019\/05\/whats-new-with-mmogle-version-5","title":{"rendered":"What\u2019s New with MMOG\/LE Version 5?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=&#8221;7593&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What is MMOG\/LE?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) and Odette International released the fifth version of the Materials Management Operations Guideline\/Logistics Evaluation (MMOG\/LE) assessment. The MMOG\/LE assessment has been a go-to document for automotive supply chain best practices for thousands of global Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers since its first publication in 2002.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.qad.com\/industries\/automotive\/mmogle\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MMOG\/LE<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is used by automotive customers to select and evaluate production and parts, service and warehousing processes. The assessment also establishes a common definition of supply chain management processes to help organizations:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Determine the robustness of existing internal processes\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Benchmark supply chain operations\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Facilitate continuous improvement\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Increase customer satisfaction\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mitigate risk throughout the tiers of automotive suppliers<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MMOG\/LE includes both a Full and Basic assessment. In general, the Full assessment is used between the OEM and Tier 1 suppliers, while the Basic assessment is used in the lower tiers of the automotive supply chain. The Basic assessment is a subset of the Full version, which allows lower-tier suppliers the opportunity to continue with the assessment and reach world-class status.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New Scoring<\/span><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While MMOG\/LE version 5 has reduced the number of criteria to 187, to achieve a Level A or ZA score will be more difficult. The number of F3 criteria has increased from 34 to 43. The F3 criteria are core to the foundation of supply chain management. Therefore, if an organization misses one F3 criteria, MMOG\/LE will automatically give it a Level C or ZC score.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These 43 criteria are centered on ERP, EDI\/Web, barcoding and quality processes that should be leveraged in the supply chain. These complementary quality processes are focused on processes such as customer and supplier communications, corrective actions, risk management and sub-supplier management. Several of the additional F3 criteria were updated to align with principles in International Automotive Task Force (IATF) 16949.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On top of the additional F3 criteria in the new version, an organization must fulfill 95 percent of the criteria to achieve Level A as opposed to 90 percent in prior versions.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New Criteria, Alignment and Concepts<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Much has changed in the industry since the last version of MMOG\/LE in the areas of technology, supplier and risk management, quality and performance. Therefore, MMOG\/LE was updated as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.qad.com\/2018\/01\/compliance-toward-operational-excellence\/\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Alignment with IATF 16949<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (e.g., corrective actions, supplier performance, cascading best practices and standards throughout the supply chain)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">More emphasis on <\/span><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.qad.com\/2016\/06\/risk-management-strategies-auto-industry\/\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>risk management<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and contingency plans throughout the supply chain including a <\/span><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.qad.com\/2018\/10\/manufacturing-cloud-top-security-considerations\/\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>cybersecurity<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> policy<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A deeper alignment between strategies, <\/span><b>objectives<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and continual improvement<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">More emphasis on minimizing or eliminating <\/span><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.qad.com\/2016\/12\/online-education-bridge-skills-gap\/\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>skills gaps<\/b><\/a><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Further emphasis on <\/span><b>end-to-end systems integration<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, completely leveraging the planning system<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Strengthened requirements in <\/span><b>Chapter 6: Supplier Interface<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (e.g. supplier selection and assessment, new product launch, use of\u00a0 metrics in the supplier assessment process)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Full <\/span><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.qad.com\/2019\/02\/auto-industry-proposing-to-ramp-up-electronic-communication-in-the-supply-chain\/\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>electronic exchange of data<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with sub suppliers by striving to achieve 100 percent EDI\/web<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Adoption of <\/span><b>advanced technologies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<\/span><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.qad.com\/2018\/10\/assistance-with-planning-machine-learning\/\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">machine learning<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, smart manufacturing, China 2020, digital transformation) to increase performance and efficiency<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New Way to Submit the MMOG\/LE Assessment<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although the Excel-based MMOG\/LE assessment tool has served the industry since 2002, it was time to update it to a more modern application. With this in mind, Odette developed a modern browser-based application called <\/span><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.odette.org\/mmog\/information#mmog-np\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MMOG.np<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (.np stands for: New Platform). MMOG\/LE version 4 will be the last assessment that can be submitted in the Excel format. Starting with version 5, the MMOG\/LE assessment can only be submitted in the Cloud. Suppliers have the coming year to transition to MMOG.np.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MMOG.np includes the exact same content and capabilities as the previous Excel-based versions. However, it also offers organizations a state of the art tool that includes audit trails, user access management, data security and more.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What Should You Do Next?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Look out for customer bulletins and review customer portals to understand when they expect suppliers regarding your submission and MMOG.np. OEMs such as Ford and Stellantis require an annual submission between May 1 and July 31 each year. If you are a Ford supplier, it is a requirement for your Ford Q1 certification. Other OEMs such as Renault, Volvo Car and Volvo Truck as well as many Tier 1 suppliers now require it too. You will want to allow yourself plenty of time to prepare for your annual submission or for a potential customer review.
