Are You Ready for the Next Big Disruption?<\/span><\/h2>\n

Metaphors and cliches abound in business-speak. I often hear the question, \u201cAre we on the right track?\u201d It\u2019s ironic that we would use a 19th-century analogy of train tracks to discuss our 21st-century business plans. It belies the nature of the challenges we face. What will the future look like? When will it look this way? Without answers to these questions, it is hard to believe that any track we choose will take us there. Being on a track suggests your path is set. This is in fact, the last thing you want in today\u2019s world.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sources of <\/span>disruption<\/span><\/a> are not hard to find. Shifting customer preferences, trade wars and tariffs, hyper-competition, smart products and innovation, digital transformation, environmental sustainability, regulatory changes, and a global pandemic have contributed to mind-boggling change. While change in itself is not new, the pace of change is accelerating and disruptions are layering on disruptions, resulting in an unprecedented environment for manufacturers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

QAD Tomorrow<\/a> is an online Thought Stream event<\/span> being held on September 22nd. The purpose of the event is to explore these challenges and provide a vision for the <\/span>Adaptive Manufacturing Enterprise<\/span><\/a>. In a world of increasing disruption and turbulence, manufacturers need to rapidly adapt to change and innovate for competitive advantage. Easier said than done? Yes, but there is a way forward and we want to share it with you. If you don\u2019t know what the future will look like, but you know it will be different, the best thing you can do is develop the capability to be adaptive. During the event, the characteristics and capabilities of the Adaptive Manufacturing Enterprise will be explained and tools provided for a self-assessment of where you stand.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Hard questions need to be asked. \u201cWill our companies exist in 10 years?\u201d Success has never been guaranteed, but now more than ever, survival itself is far from assured. Asking the question helps to refocus on what will be required to increase our chances.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Inspect what you expect. Understanding what the Adaptive Manufacturing Enterprise is and measuring where you are in the journey toward it, provide a foundation upon which to take the proactive steps needed.
