Loading a CSV File
When you are finished entering data in the Excel file based on the template described above, save the Excel file as a CSV file:
1 In the Excel Save As dialog, save the file in CSV format. You may get a warning that not all elements can be saved in CSV format. This is because CSV format does not support special font settings in the Excel file. You can ignore the warning.
2 Save the CSV file in a location accessible from your application server.
3 On the QAD EE menu, under Financial Report Writer|Utilities, open Financial Report Tree Import.
4 Specify the report chart under which you want to load the report tree you have prepared.
5 Enter the CSV file location, including the full path and filename; for example, /users/zzz/frtree.csv. Ensure that you specify the name using the correct case when you are addressing a UNIX server location.
If you are loading a new report tree and there are no errors, the program returns to the menu within a couple of seconds. Verify the report tree is correctly loaded using Report Tree Maintenance and Report Analysis Code Maintenance.
If you encounter errors during the loading process, a message is displayed, prompting you to correct the error. The load is aborted and no updates are made.
When you update an existing report tree or existing report analysis codes, a warning is displayed. This is because loading a tree automatically updates all report analysis codes in the tree with the new values specified in the CSV file. If you have used the same report analysis codes in other trees, the update affects all report trees that share the same analysis codes. If you want to avoid this effect, use unique report analysis codes for different report trees.
