Repetitive Module Uses
In a repetitive manufacturing environment, the QAD Repetitive module works well when one or more of the following is true.
• Manufacturing lead times are relatively short and batches do not overlap.
• All work in process is complete by the end of each day or shift.
• Work-in-process (WIP) costs are either insignificant or fairly constant.
• The routing does not include subcontract operations.
These characteristics are typical of many food and chemical process that are batch oriented.
Advanced Repetitive Module Uses
The QAD Advanced Repetitive module supports manufacturing environments where the following apply.
• Manufacturing lead times are relatively long.
• Continuous processing is in use; lines can be dedicated to one item for days, weeks, or months.
• WIP costs are variable or high.
• Subcontracting operations are used in a Release Management/JIT environment.
• Batches can overlap and visibility of and control over WIP are necessary.
These characteristics are typical of many discreet production processes where work in process is left on the line at the end of the day/shift and continued at the next shift.
The Advanced Repetitive module offers rich functionality. However, it is somewhat more complex and requires more hands-on control. Therefore, a thorough understanding of the functionality of this module is necessary for successful implementation. This course covers all aspects of advanced repetitive manufacturing, and includes hands-on exercises to illustrate the concepts.
Enabling the Advanced Repetitive module in its control program disables the Repetitive module since the Advanced Repetitive module will manage all repetitive operations. An enterprise with both types of process in a single domain should select the Advanced Repetitive module.
