Work codes are generally broken down into broad areas of service that reflect how your service organization is structured. Work codes, in combination with other features, are used to control the flow of call activity into General Ledger accounts.

The work code definitions should correspond to how the service organization wants to bill for work. Work code definitions can become quite sophisticated, depending on an organization’s business practices. Levels of skill specialization, time periods, departments, pay scales, and so on can all be used as criteria in defining and organizing work codes.
