The system needs one more piece of information before it can calculate availability, based on hours or calls. In both cases, it needs to know which days an engineer is working. For availability by hours, it also needs to know how many hours in a day the engineer is scheduled to work. A broad range of factors like those listed in this figure may influence when an engineer is available to work.
