This figure illustrates the kind of demand that can be generated against a parts warehouse. Both internal departments and remote service locations can generate demand for parts that can be managed through an MO. Use MOs to:
• Issue items that you do not track individually, similar to manufacturing floor stock. These are items you typically issue in bulk, like screws or washers, without detailed usage tracking. This type of MO is an expensed MO.
• Manage inventory between a supply center and service locations. Locations are typically remote such as engineers in the field carrying truck stock or a remote service center. You can also issue items to a service location within a manufacturing site.
