Export to CSV File
You can export a report tree, all its report analysis codes, and detailed data from the application to a CSV file. You can then use the CSV file to update the tree structure or report analysis codes and reload the result to the application using Financial Report Tree Export.
Report Chart
Specify the report chart for the report tree you want to export. This field is mandatory.
Top Code
Specify the report analysis code that is the root of the report tree.
Note: You can enter ReportTreeTemplate as the value for the top code, even if there is no existing tree with that name. When you use this code, an empty CSV file is generated with the required headers. You can use this file as a template for a new report tree.
CSV File
Specify the CSV file name and path. The CSV file contains report tree structure and report analysis codes definitions.
Delimiter
Specify the delimiter used in the CSV file to separate the column values. It can be a comma or semi-colon, depending on the regional settings of the client computer.
You can also use the CSV file simply to verify the content of the setup in the application. This step is especially useful in the Early Adopter versions where no Report Tree Maintenance program is available or the Report Tree Maintenance program has no Report Layout options.
Note: See columns N to U in the template description.
To export a report tree to CSV file:
1 On the QAD EE menu, under Financial Report Writer|Utilities, open Financial Report Tree Export.
2 Enter the report chart from which you want to export the report tree.
3 Enter the report tree top-level report analysis code. This code also identifies the whole tree.
4 Enter the server location, including the full path and filename, you want to write the file to; for example, /users/zzz/frtree.csv. Ensure that you have sufficient write permissions for that location. Typically, insufficient permissions result in Progress error message 13, Unable to Open the File. If the export is successful, the program briefly displays the exported tree and returns to the menu with no further messages.
5 To verify the resulting CSV file, open it with Excel.
The CSV file contains almost the same Excel file structure as the template structure described in the Financial Report Tree Import section. The exported CSV file does not contain the Excel formulas for the Level (column A), which are used in the template to automatically calculate the levels.
