Exercise: Create a Second Shift
1 Use Shift Maintenance (18.22.1.22) for your production line at site Proto. Check the Modify box for each day, Monday – Friday.
2 In the lower frame, add a start time of 07:00 for 8 hours with a productivity rate of 90%. Add a start time of 15:30 for a 4 hour shift with a Productivity of 100%
Add this data for all days of the week.
3 Use Shift Report (18.22.1.23) with the output set to page to review the results of your work.
Enter Changeover Times
4 Use Line Changeover Maintenance (18.22.1.6) to set the changeover time. The changeover time going from item 01020 to 01030 is 1 hour. The reverse requires 2 hours.
Use the Line Schedule Workbench
5 Use Line Schedule Workbench (18.22.1.10) to enter Line 1 at site 10-100.
• Click in the sequence number field and press enter to show the number 1. In the item number field enter 01020, in the quantity field enter 400. Do you see how the quantity per day was calculated?
• Click in the next available sequence field, the number 5 should appear. Enter a quantity of 200 for the 01030. The enter another 400 of the 01020.
• You should see how the system is scheduling forward based on line rates and productivity factors after subtracting line changeover times from the shift schedule.
Manually Delete Line Schedules
• Place your cursor in the field for sequence number 1 and click the Delete button. Note the system places *** in the column labeled Delete.
• Continue to select all sequence numbers for deletion by clicking in the Sales Order Quantity Number field and clicking the Delete button (which appears next to the Next/Back buttons). When all line are marked for deletion, click Next.
• In this manner you can create and modify a line sequence schedule.
Create a Line Schedule from MRP Planned Orders
6 Use Forecast Maintenance (22.1) to enter a forecast for item 01020, starting next week enter 350 per week for three weeks. Then enter a forecast for item 01030 starting next week of 175 per week for three weeks.
7 Use Net Change MRP (23.1) for site 10-100. Set the output to Page.
8 Use Planned Order Browse (23.9) to review the planned orders generated by the MRP run. You should see planned orders for your end items the 01020 and 01030 and their components.
Create a Line Schedule
9 Use Line Schedule Workbench (18.22.1.10); for Line 1 at site 10-100, do the following.
Click in the sequence field and advance to the item number and enter 01020, click Next and a list of the planned orders pops up. Putting your cursor in the planned order number field and clicking Next will place *** next to the order number indicating you have selected it. When you are done selecting all the orders you want, Click Next or Enter, the schedule will be updated.
• You can now manually adjust or modify as you did in the last exercise.
Note: To insert a new Seq Record between existing records, highlight the sequence number and press the Insert key on your keyboard. It is recommended that you type a new sequence number that fits logically between the two you are inserting it between, such as 4.5 between 4 and 5. Enter the item number.
Update the Repetitive Schedule
10 Use Repetitive Schedule Update (18.22.1.18) to create the schedule from the line sequence. Select your site, production line, and items. Direct the output to page to see the result.
Explode the Schedule for Components
11 Use Schedule Explosion (18.22.2.4) to explode the schedule for component requirements. Select your site, production line, and items. Direct the output to page to see the result.
View Production Schedule
12 Use Production Line Schedule Browse (18.22.2.14) to view the schedule for your items.
