Exercise: Backflush and View WIP
1 Use Backflush Transaction (18.22.13) to report production. Use employee 10-EMP01 to report your item 01020 at operation 10. Report 100 units Processed, scrap 1 unit with reason code 1 and reject 1 unit with reason code 1.
2 Use WIP Status Inquiry (18.22.12) to view your item at operation 10 and 20. Note the status of the input and output queues.
3 Use Backflush Transaction (18.22.13) to report 90 units complete at operation 20.
4 Use WIP Status Inquiry (18.22.12) to view your item at operation 10 and 20. Note the status of the input and output queues.
5 Use Backflush Transaction (18.22.13) to report 80 units complete at operation 30.
6 Use WIP Status Inquiry (18.22.12) to view your item at operation 10 and 20. Note the status of the input and output queues.
• You should see the WIP progress through the input/output queues of the various operations.
View Inventory Transactions
7 Use Transaction Detail Inquiry (3.21.1) to review the inventory transactions created by the backflush transactions. You should see the 80 units from operation 30 going into finished goods.
Reject Two Units
8 Use Reject Transaction (18.22.16) to reject two units at operation 20. Confirm the update.
Scrap One Unit
9 Use Scrap Transaction (18.22.18) to scrap one unit at operation 30 from the input queue. Confirm the update.
View Operation Transactions
10 Use Operation Transaction Detail Inquiry (18.22.4.2), note the reject and scrap transactions did not result in a backflush.
View WIP
11 Use WIP Status Inquiry (18.22.12) to view the status at operation 20 and 30. Note the units in the reject queue.
Issue Component for Rework
12 Use Rework Transaction (18.22.17) to report rework of the two rejected units. Select your item and operation 20, enter quantity reworked as 2, set Modify Backflush to Yes. Charge 2.0 hrs to actual run time, set To Operation to operation 30, and To Queue to Output. In the Issue Data Input window select item 2200-00, spray assembly, the quantity 2.
To confirm the update at the end, press back 3 times.
View Reworked Unit
13 Use WIP Status Inquiry (18.22.12) to view the reworked units at operation 30. Verify the reworked units are in the output queue at operation 30.
Move Reworked Units
14 Use Move Transaction (18.22.19) to move the reworked units from the output queue to the inventory location. Select your item and operation 30, specify the quantity to Move as 2, confirm the update to begin the inventory update process.
