Component Item Planning: Action Messages
To project inventory balances and calculate net requirements, MRP reschedules purchase orders, work orders, and repetitive schedules and plans all activity based on the revised schedule. When it does this, it also generates action messages to alert planners to actions that should be taken to execute the plan, such as rescheduling, canceling, and releasing orders.
Usually the first thing the planner does after running MRP is to look at the action messages. Action messages can be reviewed online and deleted when the required action is taken. They can also be printed along with the detailed plan.
