Repair Item Pricing
When items are consumed in CAR, the system searches the price list specified on the call header for each item’s price. If no price is found for the item, it defaults to the item’s list price as specified in the item master. If the item is not defined in the item master, price defaults to zero. There are two key factors in the price list search: the item or item group and the work code.
Price lists can be set up for individual item numbers or based on an item grouping. The product line and service group provide alternate ways of grouping items.
You may have different prices for the same item depending on the kind of work being done. For example, an item’s price may vary depending on if it is used during an installation, a repair, or a preventive maintenance visit.
The work code provides an additional layer of differentiation above the item selection. In addition to a work code, you must still specify an item number or some kind of item grouping (service group or product line). Repair price lists for items can use any amount type.
