Engineer defaults from the engineer assigned to this item on this call. For a new line, it defaults from the engineer assigned to the call. This engineer provides the default for each line of detail on reports opened for this call line. When the first report for a call line is created, information associated with the engineer is used to determine the line item site, which may also affect the BOM and routing suggested by the system.

The site code and location identify the facility from which items used to service this call line will be issued. It is used as the default for all item usage records. The same logic is used in CAR for determining a site.

Site defaults from the engineer record if the engineer has a designated site. Otherwise, the system looks for the site associated with the engineer’s assigned area, then the default spares site specified with Default Site Maintenance, then the site associated with the item in the item master, and finally, the call customer site.

Since costs are set up by site, once a report has been created, the site associated with the line cannot be changed.

BOM codes can be associated with an item in Service Item Maintenance or Service Item by Site Maintenance, or can be entered manually.
