RMA Charge Types
RMA charge types are defined in the Default Charge Information frame of RMA/RTS Control. The system supports four charge types, each of which can be associated with a separate service type. The warranty and contract charge type codes are system defined and cannot be changed (W and S, respectively). You can select any other code you want for the billable and giveaway charge types.
There are three groups of charge/service type relationships readily apparent:
• Warranty Charge Type (W) and Warranty Service Type (W-1)
• Billable Charge Type (B) and Billable Service Type (BILLABLE)
• Giveaway Charge Type (G) and Giveaway Service Type (GIVEAWAY)
There is a fourth relationship that is not so apparent. The contract charge type, which cannot be changed from S, references the Default RMA Contract specified on the first frame of RMA/RTS Control. When a charge type of S is entered as an override, it brings in the characteristics of the default RMA contract type.
A default charge type displays during RMA line item entry and can be overridden to reference one of the other charge types defined in the control. Changing the charge type changes the level of coverage for a particular line item.
For example, if the default charge type for a line item is W, you can change it to reference one of three other service types:
• Specifying S uses the default RMA contract type from RMA/RTS Control
• Specifying the user-defined billable charge type brings in the billable service type from the control
• Specifying the user-defined giveaway charge type brings in the giveaway service type from the control
A default of S (service contract) can be changed to W, the user-defined billable or giveaway charge types.
