QAD Transform, customer conference, networking

As we emerge from the post-COVID period, our face-to-face interactions remain fewer than in the past. This is why I am excited about QAD’s upcoming Transform events. It’s an excellent opportunity to learn from experts, get up-to-date on the industry and technological changes in manufacturing and supply chain, and, most importantly, to learn from other customers facing similar challenges.

When I attend conferences, I focus on three main themes: people, processes and systems (technology). While the product often takes center stage—and rightly so, given the rapid evolution of technology—I’ve noticed a trend in my first eight months of meeting with customers.

Many conference attendees are primarily focused on the specific version and solution they are currently leveraging, often missing out on the benefits of newer versions. These updated versions frequently include additional features and capabilities designed to save time and improve efficiency for their teams. The second area is around processes. What can I take away and apply in my teams to improve our effectiveness and efficiency? This is where targeting the proper breakout sessions is essential. The third and most important part of attending a conference is networking, tracking experts to pick their brains on target topics impacting my organization and speaking with peers. I am one of many facing the business climate challenges today. Hearing how others attack and manage in these areas is a great advantage. So, what can customers expect from attending a QAD Transform event this year?

Technology – ‘Pragmatic Intelligence’ Track

Artificial intelligence has exploded into the mainstream in recent years. As a result, technology companies have loosely applied the term AI to solutions. This results in tremendous confusion and uncertainty about its application and whether it provides added value. Our Pragmatic Intelligence breakout track, which covers our approach to Pragmatic AI, will sift through the noise to inform you about what you need to know. Improving manufacturing processes can be challenging. Everything will work smoothly once you set up processes and KPIs. However, execution often deviates from the plan, leading to waste, delays and compliance risks. QAD Process Intelligence shows businesses how processes run, helps monitor exceptions and targets improvements that yield substantial savings, reduced risk and better productivity.

We recently used QAD Process Intelligence (PI), our Pragmatic AI approach, to help customers improve their Order Delivery process, saving them over $500k in six months. PI revealed inefficiencies during peak times by automating observations and alerting us to deviations. It allowed for real-time, data-driven root cause analysis, leading to targeted process improvements.

Processes – ‘Make It Work for You’ Track

In the “Effective On-Boarding” session, you’ll learn about a structured approach that helps add value by transferring essential knowledge. This session focuses on using pre-defined tools and templates so project managers and consultants can concentrate on sharing knowledge, reducing risks, and ensuring a cost-effective path to success. The “Customizations to Extensions” session dives into the fast pace of technology and the need to refresh old processes. You’ll learn how to assess and simplify existing customizations, replace unnecessary ones with built-in features, and use modern extensions. Plus, you’ll learn about using Industry Best Practice models to stay compliant and the importance of solid project governance for consistent tracking and audits during upgrades. Attending these two sessions will be valuable for anyone looking to improve their project implementation skills and stay updated with modern tech.

People – ‘The Human Element’ Track

Technology isn’t just about boosting productivity; it’s a catalyst for positive change. By empowering frontline workers and fostering a sense of ownership, we’re improving operational efficiency and contributing to a more sustainable future. When employees feel valued and engaged, they’re more likely to be invested in through the company’s overall goals, including environmental and social responsibility. It’s a powerful combination that drives both business success and positive impact. The Human Element track showcases how a connected workforce can revolutionize businesses. We unlock their full potential by empowering employees and fostering a strong sense of purpose, driving business growth, boosting employee satisfaction and building a more sustainable future. Happier, more engaged workers are more productive and invested in the company’s environmental impact, creating a win-win for everyone involved.

In Between Time is Invaluable

The most impactful time at conferences is often the networking opportunities between sessions or during meals. These moments provide valuable chances to speak with other attendees and learn from their experiences, gaining insights and perspectives that would otherwise take months of research or time to acquire. Conversations during these informal periods can lead to new collaborations, ideas, and professional relationships that significantly enhance the conference experience.

Last year, I attended a customer success conference and connected with a peer leading customer success at a company in the Bay Area. We have stayed in touch and routinely have calls to discuss the problems we are trying to solve and the initiatives we drive to learn from each other and accelerate progress at our respective companies.

I look forward to connecting with you at our Transform events this fall. It is an opportunity to join fellow manufacturing and supply chain leaders for two days of thought leadership, networking, and education about the necessity of business transformation and how to map your journey.
