Welcome back to our Adaptive UX Tips & Tricks series on QAD Adaptive ERP, with keys to unlock some of our users’ favorite tips and tricks. If you missed our last UX Tips & Tricks article, check it out here: Tips & Tricks: How to Shine as an Adaptive UX Superstar.
In this article, we’ll cover five more tips and tricks to fully harness the power of QAD Adaptive ERP.
Tip #1 – Set Your Homepage
Our research shows that the QAD Adaptive ERP homepage is the most frequently visited page by all users. So why not optimize your experience by setting your homepage to something that will kickstart your workflow? Maybe an action center or a browse of tasks, such as your open work orders, or sales orders to ship? Easily set your homepage by navigating to the desired page, then selecting ‘Set Current as Home’.
Tip #2 – Attach Primary Thumbnail Images to Your Records
Visual cues are essential for quick recognition to ensure you’re working with the correct data. By attaching primary thumbnail images to your records, such as customer logos or item images, you can quickly verify you’re working with the right data, improving overall data accuracy. To add a primary thumbnail image, open to the relevant record and attach your desired image. Then, access the attachment properties and choose the ‘Use as Primary Thumbnail’ option. Your selected thumbnail will now be proudly displayed in the top-left of the form, for all to see.
Tip #3 – Leverage Display Density Settings
Personalize your view by setting your display density to either Comfortable or Compact. Compact displays more information on a single screen, while the Comfortable setting displays less information but with more space between each element. If you’re dealing with large volumes of data, the Compact setting may be more productive, whereas the Comfortable setting may be better for tasks that require more attention to detail. You can switch between these settings by clicking the “User Options” button in the top right corner of the application.
Tip #4 – Use Date Shortcuts
With QAD Adaptive ERP, entering dates accurately and efficiently is a breeze. Simply input the date in your local format without slashes, such as “mmddyyyy” or “ddmmyyyy”, and the system will automatically format it once you move to the next field.
Tip #5 – Leverage Google Chrome Browser Features
QAD Adaptive ERP is a web-based application accessible through any browser, but we recommend using Google Chrome for the best user experience. Chrome offers several features that can help you work more efficiently within QAD Adaptive ERP:
- Open Link in New Tab: Ctrl + Click on menus, links, and drill downs to open them in new tabs, allowing you to navigate between multiple screens without losing your place. For an easy alternative to the keyboard shortcut, right click, then select ‘Open Link in New Tab’.
- Find in Page: Use Ctrl + F to find specific text within a browse or form, saving time and reducing the need for scrolling. Keep in mind this searches visible data only, so increase your browse page size and expand all form panels first to make the most of this feature.
- Zoom In or Out: Adjust the content size to your preferred level of comfort using Ctrl and + to zoom in, and Ctrl and – to zoom out. Unlike the display density feature offered by QAD, zooming in or out affects the size of all content on the page, including text. Therefore, zooming in can enhance the readability of small text, whereas zooming out may make the text more challenging to read.
- Reopen Closed Tab: Feeling regret after hitting that “X” button a few too many times? Just hit Ctrl + Shift + T, or right-click on an empty part of the tab bar, and like magic, your tab will rise from the dead. Consider it your own personal “undo” button for web browsing blunders.
