Overview
Business Requirement
The Brazilian government requires that companies supply accounting details using the following electronic audit interfaces:
• Accounting Sistema Publico de Escrituração Digital (SPED)
Brazilian corporate taxpayers are required to electronically record every tax and accounting operation and to file these records with the federal revenue authorities. The following books are required in digital format:
• Journal register and supporting records
• General ledger and sub-ledgers
• Daily trial balances and balance sheet
From their accounting systems, companies must generate a digital file in the format specified by the Brazilian authorities. The file must be signed by the digital certificate of the company’s legal representative and accountant, which guarantees the signature of the person sending the file and prevents fraud.
• FCONT
Controle Fiscal Contábil de Transição (FCONT) is an electronic reporting requirement that is complementary to the SPED initiative, and considers the methods and criteria applied by the tax legislation of December 31, 2007. FCONT applies to all companies in business in Brazil.
FCONT is an electronic report on the balance and income accounts in double entry.
Note: Even though the Accounting Interface is currently used to address the Accounting SPED and FCONT reporting requirements, it can also be used to address other similar reporting requirements that may arise in the future.
QAD Solution
QAD has developed two Simple Asynchronous File Transfer (SAFT) XML file extracts, Master Data and Transactions, to meet Brazilian electronic reporting needs for Accounting SPED and FCONT. The files must be sent to a fiscal partner, who will use the files to develop your company’s Accounting SPED and FCONT reports for the Brazilian government.
SAFT is a commonly accepted file format to export accounting data for audit purposes.
