Issue with location and location type in 1.4.1

I work for a company that has two distribution centers. My mission is to set up the warehouses in both DC's to where fridge and freezer items were kept seperate from regular items. In stage I have one warehouse for regular product and setup one for fridge product only. In  whse master list maintenance i setup a master list titled Fridge along with in 1.4.1 having the location of a fridge product fridge. I setup all algorithms, zones, SLG's, everything and the receipt and put away process works perfectly all the way thru. To prevent a fridge item from being transferred to a frozen or regular bin I was informed that location type would solve this. The issue is when I have an item that uses both location and loc type fields in 1.4.1 the receipt process falters in 70.8.20. ERROR NO LOCATIONS COULD BE FOUND. PLEASE RE ENTER appears. I have tried every possible thing to no avail. What am I missing?

Just thought of one other thing that might need to be checked, because I assume from your earlier conversation you are using scanners?

Can you check on 1.4.17 to see if the item is set as inspect = YES.  If that is the case then during the creation of the PO it will default to the location set up in 5.24 regardless of the default location on the part master.

If you were doing the transactions manually you would see this, but perhaps something is happening in the background that is causing the error message?

In 1.4.17 inspect is set to no. (unchecked) That is good to know! I have not gotten around to testing PO receipt in stage yet. Currently i am testing distribution orders from the main site to the DC.

Did you set up the locations using the standard QAD maintenance (1.1.18) or did you set them up using the Warehouse Location Maintenance (80.3.13.1) .  If you set them up in the Warehouse Maintenance then they are created into the standard QAD location but not the other way around.

OK.  Did some research and found some possible solutions:

Issue:

Error: No destination location could be found

 

Resolution:

1. Check "Store Location Group (SLG)" and "SLG List in 80.3.6 Storage Loc. Group List Inquiry (whsllsiq.p)

2. Check "Locations" in Storage Location Group in 80.3.13.6 Location By SLG Inquiry (whlosliq.p)  - -  must have Location(s) defined for SLG

And if that does not help then:

Issue/Symptoms:

Error: No Destination Location could be Found displayed in 7.9.1  Picklist/Pre-Shipper - Automatic 

 

Facts/Environment:

AIM 3.4

QAD 2008.1 SE

Root Cause:

Blank Storage Location Group (SLGM) Record was created in the system via progress.

Resolution/Fix:

Invalid Blank record was deletes using a progress query

Then there is this one:

Issue/Symptoms:

ERROR: No Destination Location could be found.

Facts/Environment:

Warehouse Item Type

Root Cause:

The item being transferred had a Warehouse Item Type (PartType) assigned in Item-Warehouse Maintenance, 4.4.11, (whppwhmt.p), but the Transaction Type (PUT_TR) did not have a Warehouse Item Type assigned to the Transaction Type.

 

Resolution/Fix:

Assign Warehouse Item Type to the Transaction Type in 4.2.9 Int Routing Assignment Maint., (whirasmt.p)

 

Finally I found this:

Recommend upgrade to latest available release. Corrected by patch Q1LJ for AIM 3.05 in MFG/PRO eB2 and QAD 2007.1.

80.17.1 Transfer By Reference (whtrbref.p) no longer gives the error "ERROR: No destination location(s) could be found.  Please re-enter.  ERROR: No Transaction(s) could be created. Please re-enter." when inter-warehouse transfer is being done with a Non Blank To Location. Previously in the above scenario the error was displayed and transfer was not allowed.

This is an interesting "patch" remark by Phill. Everything seems ok but without a very thourough analysis it is very difficult te be sure. I might be worth having a warehouse consultant and ask him this this very specific question. Deliverable should be: is my setting ok or is this a bug. Alternative is to figure this out yourself. Good luck and keep us informed!
