Manufacturing setting

Product: Fuel Tank

BOM: 30 components on avg

Hi,

When i receive a cycle count and my welded tanks (WIP) are higher than what the QAD inventory balance shows, what is the correct transaction to make so that my components are consumed as i cycle  up?

So I assume you are really trying to replicate a WO.  One option would be to create a WO for the increased amount and then issue the materials to it and finally receive the WO in.  Another option would be to use 3.12 Receipts - Backward Explode.  This is the same as an Unplanned Receipt but also allows you to issue materials against it.  I would also suggest if you do this that you put something in the "Order" field as a reference, say "CCSept17" That way you can find all the cycle count adjustments you made for September using Unplanned transactions rather than cycle counting.

If you are only interested in materials than above approach will work. If you also have to take labor costs into consideration (labor backflush from routings) it will be more complex. I would always consult with finance if they "agree" with the proposed solution. BTW: looking at your "situation/case" it might be an option to consider Repetitive manufacturing. Good luck.
