We just started to use DRP this year as we opened up a warehouse facility
close by our production plant.
I ran into an issue when we took extra manufactured inventory items that
we make in our plant (2000) and moved them to the warehouse site (2500) to be stored.
Once the inventory at the warehouse was used MRP/DRP made planned orders
for production, but that production was in the site of the Warehouse not
our plant. This also meant that the purchase material needed was being
planned in the warehouse site as well. Since the production would never
happen in the warehouse site there also would never be material for the
production in that site.

Is there a way that if we keep the inventory in our plant site(2000) that we could be notified when we needed to transfer similar to DRP.  May through a browse or some other prompt.

At site 2000 the item should be a M or P so you will makes it and buy it at this site.  At site 2500 you need to set the itm to D and set up a network to say you get it from site 2000.  I would assume that you may want to use safety stock at the warehouse to create a demand to generatee the DRP record that would then tell 2000 to make/ buy some to restock the warehouse

Hi Phil,

What then prompt for that inventory to be sent back when needed to site 2000? We would basically be making an item in site 2000, sending it to store in site 2500, then sending it back to site 2000 when it is needed in production.

OK Now I understand.  So the item is marked as Manufactured but before you make some you want to see what is available in 2500.  I would use 12.15.5 or 6 and leave the site field blank.  It then shows you what is on hand at each site.  However, for what you are looking for I would create a custom Browse that shows if I have anything on hand  at 2500 for any part where MRP has created a planned order at 2000
