Does anyone have experience using 2015 for mfg tool management?

My company has very complex tool mangement process that needs to be supported and planned.  There are close

to a hundred tools used in the mfg process and we do not want to add them to the BOM.  I have had some

exposure to tooling in previous versions, however, there was no EAM or complex issues that we are dealing

with now.  An example of complex would be:

  • a single tool may have a "life" of 1000 parts produced
  • it can be used across 4 different part numbers
  • cannot be used simultaneously
  • requires notification when that particular tool with be obsolete due to contract completion or end of life
  • can be used in different processes (i.e. rough boring and smooth boring)
  • may possibly be turned around so that there are 2 sides of the life of the part.
  • Any, or all, of these could be characteristics of the tool.

If anyone has any suggestions, or experience, please respond! wink Thank you!

Hi, Deb, this is similar to something they are doing at Pridgeon & Clay. They are not using 2015, but they have utilized the standard production driven maintenance functionality with a few changes to pick up the tool number which I believe is associated to the op on the routing. Let me know if you'd like me to get you connected with them to discuss.

Hi Nancy! Thanks for responding..what version is Pridgeon and Clay on? It might be a good idea to have a contact for that, if they are using EAM.
