Possible to receive EMT order with PO Receipt?

Post Date: 10/15/15 (Rhodium, 825 Posts) Recent Posts
Using EMT in it's most simple setup, it is the intention to ease down on administrative handling. However, according to the manual & testing, EMT receipt is only possible with a Shipper. Now the organization needs to learn a new menu (shipper maintenance and ~ confirm). This will, again, complicate the administrative handling. Does anyone know a work around so it is possible to use PO receipt with EMT orders? Any suggestions?

No. It has to be handled using shippers. Basically the shipper acts as the ASN from the supplier and would quite often be loaded using EDI. This way the only real process step is the confirm.

Raymond:

Were you ever able to resolve this?  We have the same issue where there are 2 entities in one physical location and

we are just "transferring" material from one side of the building to another.  But it is one entity to another.

I like using EMT to do the PO to SO process, but the movement of the material is way too

much work to expect a material handler to do.

Deb, unfortunately that is not what EMT is designed for.  Basically it is a customer driven process. So the shipment to the customer triggers the process.

Have you looked at using DRP?

Or perhaps you could get a small program created that allows you to "link" a PO to an SO for internal use and then use a trigger from the PO receipt to create the shipment in the other site.

Why is it so much to do?

The supplier sends his goods identified with the shipper number he sent in advance (that created the inbound PO shipper), so the only transaction to perform is to enter this shipper ID (plus suplier and site) into the PO shipper confirm program and press Go.

Sure, this assumes your supplier is accurate with his ASN data preparation (becuase the above does not include checking the shipper data matches the physical shipmnet), but if he is not then you have big issues to deal with.

Mark.  You missed the point.  If using EMT, you do not actually perform a PO receipt.  Normally the goods are shipped directly from the second site to the customer.  That transaction then creates a Po receipt in the Primary business Unit, and then does a Shipment in the PBU ready for invoicing.  The question was if it would be possible to perform the PO receipt manually.
