Planning Issue from Customer requirements
Post Date: 9/20/23 (Gold, 141 Posts) Recent Posts
Hi All,
Yesterday I met a potential customer onsite at their factory. This customer produces cigarette boxes and exports them abroad in quantities greater than 5 million products/month
I summarize 2 issues that customer are especially interested in as follows:
1) Customers order according to Make To Order (MTO), so in production planning, customers want to collect 2 or 3 identical orders to produce at once to avoid wasting time changing molds and ink. , change machine setup, people...
The company wants the Planning function to be the number 1 priority. Planning is not just about taking Demand from Sales Order and Forecast to create production orders as usual, but must also have Logic Rules (configurable) including includes: information about the Tool used, Axis used, ink color, etc. (specifically, the customer company will provide details), and the system can automatically arrange the order of production orders. Optimal production (Optimum according to customers is to minimize tool changes, shaft changes, ink changes,... leading to downtime)
2) The company wants Planning to be able to show that when running the Planning function and confirming the production schedule as required number 1, it is necessary to know how much production cost can be saved (less downtime reduces cost, reduces OT, reduces cost). cost, less loss means less cost)
Does anyone have any ideas/solutions?
Thanks in advance.
Vinh

You do have a little bit of conflict as you are trying to MTO but you also want to add orders together almost like a POQ.
Have you looked into using MSW/PSW? This will give you a graphical representation of the orders and allow you to schedule together.
I did a very similar thing in a medical company

Hi Phill,
I think the key is how QAD to manage Tool Usage, is that mean for Logic Rules (configurable)
Do you have any ideas and solutions?
Thanks

Yes, and that is why I suggested MSW/PSW as you can configure a lot of these to help with the scheduling
