How can we setup Surgical Implant Trays as Fixed Assets?

Hi QAD Team,

We are trying to understand if we can add Surgical Implant Tray as fixed assets (Eg. TRAY1). These trays contain various components important for our implants. Over time few components can be replaced with new ones.

We tried adding all the tray components (Eg. TRAY1-HAMMER, TRAY1-RETRACTOR) as Fixed Asset Components of TRAY1 and after depreciating the TRAY1 for few months, split one of the component (TRAY1-HAMMER) to a new asset of same name for retiring them. This works well. But when new replacement component (TRAY1-HAMMER-NEW01) is added to main Fixed Asset TRAY1, it results in monthly depreciation of the new component right from the Service Date of TRAY1, rather than from the day it gets added (as there is no option to add date while adding component).

What would be the best way to handle this situation? Useful Life of the complete tray would be 2 years with $1000 as cost.

Best Regards,
Nevro QAD IT Team
